Alright. I come from an electrical engineering background — been around the trade a long time and always had a soft spot for it, even the boring bits like working out voltage drop on a Friday afternoon when you'd rather be packing up.
OhmBase started as a bit of a side project. I got fed up doing the same calculations over and over — in my head, on the back of a fag packet, or digging through the OSG in the van — so I built myself a tool to do it properly. Figured if it was useful to me, it'd probably be useful to a few other sparks out there too.
That's really all this is. No big company behind it, no investors, no grand plan. Just something I've enjoyed building and wanted to put out there for free.
I've gone through every calculator on here and checked the figures against BS 7671 and the IET On-Site Guide as carefully as I can. Where standards conflict or I couldn't verify a number with confidence, I've left it out rather than guess — better an honest gap than a wrong figure.
Bit of a play on words — Ohm's Law being the bread and butter of electrical work, and "base" as in your go-to spot for it. Nothing more clever than that, I promise.
